Uta Belina Waeger has been working with found, used and reclaimed materials for decades. Re- and upcycling were hardly a topic back then. Today, these terms are part of the general vocabulary. 

Initially, it was used iron appliances that were given an artistic makeover.
More recently, found small pieces of furniture such as chairs and lamps have been added, which are then artistically transformed into unique pieces. Often they are still design objects, i.e. utilitarian objects, but sometimes they are sculptures, i.e. showpieces with no specific purpose.
However, they are always unique pieces - produced in diverse and elaborate (manual) work - with a novel, as-yet-unseen form, unusual color and mysterious surface, occasionally even carried by subtle humor…
