Allen Jones – Art in the Galerie Kunsthaus Weinstock.
Allen Jones is considered one of the most influential artists of British Pop Art due to his provocative works. He works both in painting and as a creator of sculptures. His works often have a strong erotic reference. He thematizes sexual preferences such as BDSM and sexual fetishism and simultaneously emphasizes, satirizes or alienates them. Jones likes to quote phallic symbols in his works (e.g. ties as a sign of male potency) and counterpoints these with symbols of female eroticism (subjects of women's legs in high-heeled shoes) and polarizes the viewer through his sculptures and sculptures.
Jones became known at the end of the 1960s above all for his provocative, life-size and realistic-looking female figures made of steel and fiberglass, which function as pieces of furniture when tied up. The sculpture series Hatstand, Table and Chair was created in 1969.
