Willi Siber grew up in Upper Swabia and studied art at the University of Stuttgart from 1970 until his state examination in 1974. At the same time, he attended the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. He completed his studies in 1976 as a master student in Herbert Baumann's sculpture class with the state examination. Willi Siber moved into his studios in Reutlingen and Dietenwengen in the 1970s. Since 1990, Willi Siber has exhibited in galleries, museums and art associations worldwide. He is regularly represented by his galleries at international art fairs. Willi Siber's artistic work is complemented by art-in-building projects. As a freelance artist, Willi Siber is a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund, the Künstlerbund Baden-Württemberg and XYLON, the International Association of Woodcutters. In 2021, Siber was awarded the Staufer Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg. He was nominated by Ulm city councillor Martin Rivoir. Siber is married to art historian and museum director Stefanie Dathe, who ran the Villa Rot Museum from 2008 to 2016, the construction of which was made possible by the artist's donation. He is also a board member of the non-profit Hoenes Foundation, which supports the Villa Rot Museum in Burgrieden-Rot.
