ABOUT OLIVER WEILLER

Oliver Weiller, painter and photographer, is an artist who succeeds in conveying his work credibly and who is always very careful and deliberate when selecting his motifs. In his "Unfolding Coleoptera" series, for example, he assembled beetles from hundreds of individual images with ruthless precision, placing great emphasis on the blackest black in the background. His oil paintings are also planned and executed down to the smallest detail. With his lavish technique, Weiller lends the pictures a three-dimensionality that captivates and has become his trademark.

Weiller now sells his work on three continents. Born in Mainz and from Wiesbaden by choice, he attended the Villa Wieser art school in Herxheim and later studied at the Parsons School of Design in NYC. His strong compositions are particularly captivating due to their large formats and, on closer inspection, the paintings practically catch the eye of the enthusiast due to the thick application. His works need space and only when the viewer takes a step back do buildings, streets and landscapes emerge from the impasto application of paint, usually from a bird's eye view.
