J. Edward Seitz. Artist pseudonym "JES" captivates with its multi-layered and highly sensitively composed mixture of diverse materials and techniques in conjunction with solid painterly craftsmanship. The result is expressive works of modern POP art, extremely rich in contrast, characteristic, with many facets and finesse. Painted texts give the viewer thought-provoking messages, statements and emotions.
The choice of motifs, mostly celebs and public figures, always inspired by the current zeitgeist. Icons of the 60s, 70s, 80s, film and music, sometimes playfully combined with well-known cartoons. Commissioned works, including for the children of Michael Jackson - Prince and Paris, or fairs in Dubai reflect his international expertise.
After graduating in business administration, JES worked successfully as a jewelry designer. His designs and jewelry pieces are businesslike and cool, but also playful to eccentric works and offer a successful melange of the wishes and personality of the customer and his own artistic ideas and imaginations. Perfectly implemented in terms of craftsmanship, unique pieces are created. Commissioned works were made, including for well-known personalities such as Sarah Connor.
Inspired and inspired by artists such as Charlie Anderson, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol, JES developed his own highly distinctive visual language using collages of old posters, lettering, and international press. The collages serve as a substructure and complement to his acrylic painting, which he uses just as skillfully and unmistakably as serigraphy, airbrush and graffity. Also used, either as an intermediate layer or finish, are shellac, boat varnish, and sometimes colored resin, which lends the paintings their own special expression and thus captivates the viewer.
